it is HSBC cold call line, dont answer any question from ANYONE calling you about any bank account, ever. hsbc shouldnt be asking for details on the phone unless you rang them.

These forums are a waste of space because you cannot stop the person who is scamming from posting here saying that the number is genuine, I.E. the person calling themselves RICHARD saying that this is a genuine number is the scammer.

Caller said they were part of HSBC as part of a "review" of the account.

This doesn't feel right so I'd advise people not to answer the security questions and to decline to be involved.

If you then wish to actually review your account call HSBC yourself so that you know who you've called.

I just got called this morning by the number, thank god for these blogs though because i probably would have been dumb enough to give soem details as i just recently applied online for a student account with HSBC.

This is an HSBC number. It's seems to be one they use when they're trying to sell you shit you don't want. So don't been in any hurry to answer it.

On HSBC website click "contact us" go to the bottom of the contacts page you will find a link to a phone book that lists the HSBC contact phone numbers for all departments and 08000304909 does not seem to be listed!

Just phoned HSBC customer servies, who told me they haven't been trying to contact me. I gave the number to the woman taking my call, who checked it for me and said "Oh it's probably just a marketing call" . Unfortunately she was unable to tell me what the caller may be marketing! She updated my information and promised me i wouldn't recieve any further calls. We'll see.

have received 3 calls from this number last one had 10.33 last night. i just ignore them and now i know it is a scam call will not answer them.

I think it may be HSBC. I changed my mobile number on my online account and then next day was called by them to check that it was a genuine number change
